An exhilarating view. Whisper stuck behind closed teeth. Birth of contemplation. Those were the amazing and most pretentious thoughts that ran through my head, while I was waiting for a princess to come, so International Fashion Week Dubai, Season 12 \u2013 a sentence repeated so many times it\u2019s like someone wrote it with a knife in my brain \u2013 could commence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also \u2013 never met a princess, but always wanted to ask if it\u2019s fun or exhausting to be a one. Somehow, I never had a chance. Maybe in, well, next life probably. When I\u2019m a prince somewhere or a guy that sells her a newspaper on the stand or a piece of our favourite Farys Design Jewelry. I don\u2019t know what princesses do, get over me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a newcomer to a fashion in some sense, but also someone with, as my girlfriend says, an amazing taste that could be encompassed in: OMG, help me, does these olive leggings look great with ivory-colored hat, but my socks are long and there is an adidas logo on them. DO I LOOK LIKE A CLOWN, BUT IN A GOOD WAY? Something like that anyways. With that in mind, I entered this fashion show with a little knowledge about the latest trends, but great passion and furious aesthetic precision. On the side, very much enjoyed the rage of the host when the crowd started acting a bit loose. Best quotes are \u2013 \u201cthank you for NOT understanding to NOT cross the catwalk\u201d and \u201cI know it\u2019s exciting to see each other, because OMG I haven\u2019t seen you since yesterday and now I need to talk to you during the show\u201d. Amazing performance, 10\/10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On to the show! There are many brands that I haven\u2019t heard much of, but was very invested in, because, for starters, it was polish, so \u2013 POLSKA GUROM \u2013 but also felt proud to see my countrywoman and man sizzling on Dubai streets, just like me to show people their work. Many polish clothes brands and Farys Design Jewelry among others definately made an impact on international crowd. Of course, I won\u2019t describe all of the shows, just the ones that stuck in my memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First thing\u2019s first \u2013the first show. I find it interesting to explore brave ideas like \u2013 what would happen if a wedding dress became an everyday outfit? For me \u2013 it felt great. Long dress and ever longer gloves caught my eye and felt intentional but not pretentious. Same goes for those \u201cinterrupted\u201d dresses in which there is a part of see-through material that starts around thigh and ends with calf. For some reason, the main one is that humans are monkeys after all, this little window was more erotic than anything else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second thing that was somewhat interesting came also from a polish designer. For me, this was an intellectual journey to a hypothetical world of \u201cwhat would happen if Arabian and West fashion worlds would collide with a little bit of steampunk sprinkled all over them\u201d? So yeah, that\u2019s a thing I guess. Nevertheless, it was an interesting experience, felt a bit like an Indiana Jones love interest party and that\u2019s a good thing in any universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last show that caught my was, well, the last show. The designer created a fairytale like story for us. I must say, there is something hypocritical in the way we deconstruct and infiltrate our childhood dreams and recreate them as political statements. There are problems with it – sure, but there is also a lot of fun, joyfulness and just being a pretty little princess that we all want to be in the end, so why not let us enjoy our fantasy for the last time. Pretty please?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big thanks to Farys Design that made our trip possible. We\u2019ll see you the next day, hope it will be as crazy and unpredictable as the first one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
